Pelotonia, founded in Columbus, Ohio in 2009, started as a grassroots bike tour but has evolved into a movement that includes, engages, inspires, and challenges a community to change the world by accelerating innovative cancer research for The Ohio State University The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute.
A Peloton is a group of five or more individuals who have teamed up to share their Pelotonia experience. The Peloton members can include Riders, Challengers, or Volunteers. Pelotons within the Pelotonia community include a mixture of community, family, and corporate teams. Peloton members can share donations made to the Peloton as a whole and/or can share funds raised by individual members. Funds may only be shared with fellow Peloton members.
The financial commitment depends on the way you choose to participate in Pelotonia.
There is no registration fee for Volunteers or Challengers. There is a registration fee for Riders to help cover the cost of the food, drink, event support, and swag received during Ride Weekend. Rider registration fees begin at $129.
The fundraising minimums for each way to participate are listed below.
High Rollers are Pelotonia’s biggest fundraisers, these individuals set big goals and thrive in the quest to make them happen. Any Pelotonia rider can commit to the High Roller fundraising minimum of $5,000.
The minimum age to ride or volunteer is 14; however, any age can participate in Pelotonia as a Challenger.

Answers to these questions and more can be found on Pelotonia’s official FAQ page (2024 FAQ) and will be answered in the Pelotonia Ride Weekend Handbook shared with all registered Riders in the weeks leading up to Ride Weekend. If you have additional questions that are not answered in the handbook, you can reach out to the Simply Community team.
